Working With Files

CREATING AND OPENING DOCUMENTS
Create a document
- Click the Office Button and select New to create a new document. You will be prompted to choose a template from a large selection. Blank Document is the default.
- Press <CTRL> + N on the keyboard.
Open an Existing Document
- Click the Office Button and select Open to open and existing document.
- Press <CTRL> + O on the keyboard.

SAVING A DOCUMENT
- Click the Office Button and select Save to save the document
- Click the Save button with the small disk icon next to the Office Button.
- Press <CTRL> + S on the keyboard.
- Click the Office Button and select Save As to save the document in a different name or different format
RENAMING A DOCUMENT
- Locate the file you want to change.
- Right click on the file and when the shortcut menu is open, go down to rename.
WORKING ON MULTIPLE DOCUMENTS
Under the View tab on the right side there is a Window group. In this group you have many options that allow you work on documents simultaneously. Using any of these options will by default enable View Side by Side and Synchronous Scrolling.- New Window - Opens a clone of the current document in a side by side view
- Arrange All - Arranges all open Word documents so they are evenly spaced and visible
- Split - Allows you to split the the screen between different parts of the same document
CLOSING A DOCUMENT
- Click the Office Button and select Close to save the document
- Click the X button in the top right corner of the window
- Press <Alt> + <F4> on the keyboard.
