INSERTING AN IMAGE

Word allows the user to import images and graphics into the document. Some graphics can only be placed where the cursor allows, such as Pictures and Clip Art. Other graphics can be placed and moved freely around the page as you like, which is the case with Shapes. SmartArt and Charts are similar to Pictures and ClipArt in that the borders are limited to where the cursor can be placed, but within those borders the individual elements can be moved around freely like a Shape. Go to the Illustrations group on the Insert tab and click on the type of picture or graphic that you want to insert.

  • From File: Select Picture; you will be prompted to browse and find the image.
  • From Clip Art: Select Clip Art; the Task Pane will open up and prompt you to search for the Clip Art you want to use.
  • From Shapes: Select Shapes; a menu will pop-up that allows you to select what Shape you want. Click where you want to place the shape.
  • From SmartArt: Select SmartArt; a menu will pop-up that allows you to select what SmartArt you want.
  • From Chart: Select Chart; a menu will pop-up that allows you to select what Chart you want.
