Introduction
SCREEN LAYOUT
MENUS
The first thing that you will notice is that the traditional menu bar is gone. In Microsoft Office 2007 the old menu bar has been updated with a more graphic oriented layout.
Instead of a File menu that previous Windows applications have, all Office programs now have a button in the top left hand corner of the window called the Office Button. This button is where all the New, Open, Save, Print, and Close are found.
Seven tabs and the Office Button have replaced the old menus and toolbars in Word 2007. By selecting a tab, options will be displayed as buttons with small icons to help identify the tools and options visually. Under these tabs there are groups. The groups contain related features and options. You can expand the options window by clicking the arrow in the box>insert image< just right of the group name.
RIGHT-CLICK SHORTCUT MENU
These features allow you to access various Word commands and functions more quickly than using the menu bars. Use the right-click on your mouse to bring up these options. The options will vary depending on what element you have selected when you right-clicked. For example,
the shortcut in the image below is from right clicking.... <insert image>
This menu allows you to use the most common Home tab tools without having to click on the Home tab.
