Getting Started
After starting Access, the program will automatically open the following dialog box. If the box does not appear, go to File > New and choose Blank database
Select Blank Access database if you are creating a new database, or Open an Exisitng File if you want to edit an existing database.
Blank Access database
Unlike other programs, you must save your Access database before you will be allowed to begin editing it.
- Choose the folder where you want to save the database to by finding it in the Save in drop-down menu. If the folder does not yet exist, you can create one by clicking on the new folder icon.
- Type the name of your database in the File name field and click the Create button.
Access database wizards, pages, and projects
Access' wizards and layout are pre-made, blank databases to which you can add data. Select the one you want and click OK.
The Database Windows
The Database Window lists all of the objects in the open database by object type and provides links for creating new objects.
Design View
Design View allows you to create fields in your database and customize them.
Datasheet View
The datasheet allows you to input data into the table.
