Create a New Portfolio Project

  1. Click Create a new project on the "I want to" menu at the left. You will move to the "Create a new portfolio project" screen (see illustration on the right).
  2. Enter basic information for your participants to see when they first view your project. Except for the title and instructor name, everything else is optional. See below for more details about each section.
      Project title: The project title you specify here will be displayed on the Project Summary, in your listing of project in the My Projects area, and on the participant's main page. Enter a title that helps you and your participants identify the project easily.

      Instructor name: You can specify how your name will appear to the participants in your Portfolio project.

      Portfolio project description: Provide a relevant description explaining your Portfolio project to your participants. Participants can read this description. The description also becomes the cover page when participants publish their portfolios to the Web. You may want to include general information, such as course name and assignment types.

      Learning objectives: Enter the learning objectives for this project to help guide your students as they work.

      Instructions: Enter general instructions about the Portfolio project for your participants here. This might include specifics about the assignment such as due date, if and how you will assess the portfolio, and if you will be enforcing deadlines.

      Link to instructions: If you have more instructions on another Web page, include the complete Web address (URL) here.
  3. After you have entered the information, scroll down and then click Next. Your project will be created, and you will move to the Project Summary page.

About the Project Summary.

The Project Summary is the main work area for your Portfolio project. The Project Summary (see the illustration at the right) displays the title of your project; the description, learning objectives, and instructions you provide your participants; and a list of the pages in your project.

On the Project Summary page you will see messages that guide you to the next step in creating or managing your project displayed in a yellow box. Information about your project participants is displayed in the green box at the center bottom of the page. Information about your assistants is in the purple box.

The "I want to" menu at the left lets you edit, move, copy, download, or delete this project.
