Delete Groups of Files

This document explains how to permanently delete groups of Web files or your entire Web site using SimpleSite. You may choose to delete files created in SimpleSite, files created and uploaded in SimpleSite, or all files associated with your Web site.

Select the Web site you wish to delete.

If you own multiple Web sites, make sure to select the one you want to delete files from in the drop-down menu located under the "Available Web sites" section of the SimpleSite Home page.

Consider archiving a file, a folder, or your entire Web site into a zip (compressed) file before deleting it. Although you will not be able to edit them later in SimpleSite, you will at least have a copy of your Web pages that you can use later.

To delete selected files or your entire Web site, follow the steps below:
  1. To delete selected files or your entire Web site, select Delete Web site files from the SimpleSite Web site options menu, and then click Next. You have three options for deleting files:

    Delete only files that were created by SimpleSite. This option will delete pages you have created with SimpleSite, and also remove these pages from the SimpleSite records database. Associated files, such as images, that uploaded to your Web site with SimpleSite will not be deleted.

    Delete files that were created in SimpleSite and any additional files that were uploaded with SimpleSite. This option will deleted files created by and uploaded with SimpleSite. The only content that will remain on your Web site are files (if any) that you have created with other software and uploaded manually outside of SimpleSite.

    Delete all the files on your Web site. This option will delete all files that you created and uploaded with SimpleSite, as well as any other files you manually uploaded to your Web site or that existed before you began using SimpleSite. All content on your Web site will be permanently deleted.

  2. Once you have selected an option, confirm your decision by selecting the check the box next to the statement saying that you have made the correct deletion choice.
  3. Click Delete. You will be prompted again to make sure you really want to delete your files.
  4. Click OK.
Once you delete files from SimpleSite, they are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered in any way. For this reason, make sure that you select the correct option when deleting anything from SimpleSite.
