Apply Security to Your Web Site
Use SimpleSite to set folder security, which will restrict access to this folder and the files and pages it contains.
- To set folder security, select the folder you wish to view in the left pane. The "Folder summary" page will appear.
- Select Set Folder Security in the "Folder actions:" menu.
- Choose your security from the Security options drop-down menu. You have the following options:
None - anyone can view the pages in this folder.Any UW NetID - anyone with a UW NetID can view the Web pages within this folder.
Specific list of UW NetIDs - only a specific group of UW NetIDs that you create can view the contents of this folder. You will be prompted to create or select a group of UW NetIDs. Learn more about creating groups.
If the group changes after you set security, you will need to return to this page and click "Set security" again to publish the updated security list to your Web site.Custom username and password - You will be prompted create a username and password. You can give them to people want to access Web pages within this folder.
- When you are finished choosing your level of security, click Next. You will return to the "Folder summary" page, where you'll notice your folder has a lock icon, signifying its secure status. All secure folders are highlighted in yellow in the left frame (shown in the image on the right).
