Jeff Erickson, Personal/Reflective e-Portfolio
Jeff Erickson is a senior at the University of Washington, where he studies Mathematics. He graduated from high school in Montana, where his nuclear family still resides. He made this Web site as a means to show his photography and document his thoughts. He works part-time as a Computer Tech for Seattle Public Schools. Jeff enjoys film, coffee, literature, tutoring, and photography. He wants to teach high school mathematics in an urban environment, such as New York City.
Judges were impressed with the thoughtful and comprehensive self-portrait Jeff presented in his personal/reflective portfolio. Jeff's visuals and writing artfully synthesize multiple online sources. In reading Jeff's portfolio, a viewer gains insight into Jeff's passions and personality.

Mike McCain, Professional e-Portfolio
Mike is graduating this summer and hoping to pursue a career as an artist in the entertainment industry. He likes working in 2D and 3D and tries to keep his portfolio updated periodically - it's an easy way to present work to potential clients and employers.
Judges selected Mike's portfolio as an outstanding example of a professional portfolio targeted to a specific audience. Mike's succinct commentary and design choices highlight his best work as well as his creative process.

Ashley Thoreson, Academic e-Portfolio
Ashley Thoreson is a freshman and a pre-nursing student. She is from Bellingham, Washington and created this e-portfolio as the final project for English 131 during winter quarter of her freshman year.
Ashley's PortfolioIn this academic portfolio, judges appreciated the strong musical theme reflected in both the writing and visual design. In addition, Ashley's writing expertly connects the course learning outcomes with the artifacts in her collection.

Diana Widjaja, Professional e-Portfolio
Diana Widjaja migrated to Singapore from Jakarta when she was 6. She is a senior majoring in Technical Communication (TC) in addition to Applied Computational Mathematical Sciences (Discrete Math & Algorithm option), and she is pleased with this combination because it lets her indulge in both writing and technology at the same time. Designed for a TC Professional Portfolio class, her e-portfolio is an outlet to showcase some of her academic and professional work to potential employers. It has been quite a useful tool for her so far!
Judges felt that the information in this professional portfolio was expertly organized and complemented by strong graphic design choices. In addition, visitors can easily navigate through the site to find more information on each of Diana's artifacts.

Amanda Ahn, Professional e-Portfolio
Amanda Ahn is a senior pursuing a BS in Technical Communication. She hand-coded
her online portfolio as an assignment for TC 310: Introduction to Communication
Design. She uses it now while applying for internship opportunities in the
technical, scientific, and communicative fields. This was her first attempt
in Web site-making and she plans to strengthen the portfolio before she graduates.
Boris Unigovskiy, Professional e-Portfolio
Boris Unigovskiy is an Informatics major at the University of Washington Information School. He is a senior and is graduating in June of this year. He was born and raised in Moscow, Russia but came to Seattle when he was young and has enjoyed living in this area for the past 10-11 years. His interests include working with and learning about new and exciting technologies, going on trips with his family and friends, and networking with new people online and in-person. He decided to create an e-portfolio to showcase to potential employers the projects he has completed or is working on, classes he has taken and plans to take before he graduates, and information about his relatively new major (Informatics).
Jayne Vidheecharoen, Professional e-Portfolio
Jayne Vidheecharoen is a senior in the Visual Communication Design program. She was born and raised in St.Louis, MO but she has been in Seattle for the past 4 years. She is interested in many types of design (print, interactive, and motion) and illustration, and her portfolio is a great way to show the work she has done in these areas.

Ryan Carl Wong is a Senior in Architecture and originally from Fremont, California. Ryan has previously used his e-portfolio to display art and architectural work and as a resume to prospective employers and the community. Upon graduation, he intends on working at an architecture firm in downtown Seattle before entering graduate school.

Veronica Balansay, Academic e-Portfolio
Veronica Balansay is a freshman here at the UW. Although she is not sure
what she wants to major in yet, she is thinking about education, English,
or environmental studies. She is from Tacoma, WA and attended Stadium High
School. Throughout school, she has always enjoyed studying English and making
projects, so she decided to create an e-portfolio that was colorful and unique.
In her spare time, she loves to do anything in the outdoors: hiking, camping,
rock climbing, canoeing, biking, running, etc. She also loves spending time
with her friends and family, reading, watching movies, and scrap booking.
Mark Chilenski, Academic e-Portfolio
Mark Chilenski is a freshman pursuing a degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. Hailing from Renton, WA, he has always been interested in classical timpani, medieval literature, nuclear fusion, aircraft, spacecraft and other applications of science and technology. His e-portfolio was created as the culminating project for Andrew Fitzgerald's English 111 class, "Geographies of Hell."

Nina Tan, Academic e-Portfolio
Nina Tan is a freshman and is undecided on a major. She is from Mercer Island, about 20 minutes from the UW, and she loves playing tennis, Frisbee, and being outdoors when it’s sunny. She wrote her e-portfolio for her English 131 class titled “Robots, Zombies, and Other Automata: Unlearning Cultural Programming?” instructed by Jentery Sayers during Winter Quarter 2007. Her portfolio is a collection of the major writing assignments from the class, focused mainly on their reading of John Berger’s Ways of Seeing, and Michel Foucault’s “Panonopticism” chapter in his book Discipline and Punish.
Josh Berer, Personal/Reflective e-Portfolio
Josh is a senior majoring in Near Eastern Languages, namely Arabic. He is from Victoria BC, but hasn't spent more than a year in one place for the past 5 years. He bounced from Victoria to Los Angeles, LA to Jerusalem, Jerusalem to New York, New York to Turkey, Turkey to Seattle, Seattle to Jordan and then back to Seattle again. He started doing calligraphy in Jordan, and then continued it here, following his return. After graduation he plans to return to Turkey to pursue a career in teaching English.

Logan is a freshman considering Informatics as his major. His hometown is Burlington,
Washington. He created his portfolio entry for a Freshman Interest Group class
fall quarter to showcase his interests and activities that quarter. His main
interests include computers, namely programming and web design, and video games.
Mike Skriletz, Personal/Reflective e-Portfolio
Mike Skriletz is currently enrolled at the University of Washington, majoring in physiology, and hoping to pursue a career in medicine. He is currently a junior, having taken two years of running start in his hometown of Olympia. His interests include long bicycle rides down the Burke-Gilman Trail, history, and playing fetch with his Labrador. The Catalyst portfolio he did for his Freshman Interest Group was a great experience that really let him exercise his creativity.
Tony Tran, Personal/Reflective e-Portfolio
Tony Tran is from the semi-small town of Lacey, WA. He is currently a freshman with sophomore credits and is trying to major in Visual Communication and Design because he has a love for photography and graphic designing. Though he loves art and design, his biggest passion is hip hop dancing. The e-portfolio he made was a requirement for his FIG class but he found it to be a very fun and engaging assignment. He considers it a great tool given that it helps showcase one's work and helps everyone to remember and cherish their freshman year.
