Portfolio Examples
Expository Writing Program (Profile)
The Expository Writing Program (EWP) uses Portfolio in several sections of English
131: Beginning Composition. They ask the students to assemble their papers from
the quarter and to write commentary about how their work fulfilled the course
outcomes.
Freshman Interest Groups (Profile)
All students enrolled in a Freshman Interest Group (FIG)complete a portfolio at the end of autumn quarter. The portfolio contains a series of reflections about their first quarter at the UW. Students use artifacts to complement their reflections and to show their personality.

Teacher Education Program (Profile)
All students enrolled in the Teacher Education Program (TEP) create a teaching portfolio prior to graduation. These portfolios highlight their teaching philosophy and discuss an array of lesson plans.
Showcase Portfolios
Individuals may create portfolios outside of a course context. The sample portfolio listed below was created by a student who chose to use Catalyst Portfolio to showcase her cumulative academic accomplishments at the UW.
Catalyst Portfolio Contest
Catalyst held a Portfolio contest in 2005, and below are some of the finalists and an honorable mention. Not all students uses the Catalyst Portfolio tool to create their portfolios.
