PowerPoint for the Classroom (archived workshop)

Workshops > PowerPoint for the Classroom (archived workshop)

This workshop will no longer be offered, but we are leaving the materials posted as a reference for previous participants. Catalyst student employees teach a Microsoft PowerPoint workshop which anyone with a UW NetID may attend. No registration is required.

PowerPoint for the Classroom was designed for UW instructors, TAs, and researchers who wish to use PowerPoint presentations to support their lectures and presentations. We focused on learning the basics of creating a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Workshop Objectives

After this workshop, participants should be able to

  • identify pros and cons of using PowerPoint for presentations,
  • understand the different presentation formats PowerPoint can support,
  • identify planning considerations and technical issues,
  • create a presentation with text, images, multimedia, and animations,
  • to present and annotate the slideshow using keyboard shortcuts, and
  • print slides, notes, and handouts.
